നഖം മുറിക്കുന്ന വിധം

കൈനഖം മുറിക്കേണ്ടത് വലതു കയ്യിന്റെ ചൂണ്ടുവിരല്‍ കൊണ്ട് തുടങ്ങി ക്രമപ്രകാരം ചെറുവിരല്‍ വരെയും പിന്നെ തള്ളവിരലും അനന്തരം ഇടതുകയ്യിന്റെ ചെറുവിരല്‍ മുതല്‍ അതിന്റെ തള്ള വിരല്‍ വരെയും എന്ന ക്രമത്തിലാണ്. കാല്‍നഖം മുറിക്കേണ്ടത് വലതു കാലിന്റെ ചെറുവിരല്‍ കൊണ്ട് തുടങ്ങി ഇടതുകാലിന്റെ ചെറുവിരല്‍ കൊണ്ട് അവസാനിപ്പിക്കുന്ന വിധത്തിലുമാണ്. (തുഹ്ഫ 2/476)

നഖം വെട്ടിയ ഭാഗം വേഗം കഴുകേണ്ടതാണ്. കഴുകുന്നതിന് മുമ്പ് അവിടം കൊണ്ട് ചൊറിഞ്ഞാല്‍ പാണ്ഡ് രോഗം പിടിപെടാന്‍ സാധ്യതയുണ്ട്. (തുഹ്ഫ 2/476) നഖം വെട്ടിയ ശേഷം വിരലുകളുടെ തലകള്‍ കഴുകല്‍ സുന്നത്താണ്. (ബാജൂരി 1/328)

വ്യാഴം, വെള്ളിയാഴ്ച പകല്‍, തിങ്കളാഴ്ച പകല്‍ എന്നീ ദിവസങ്ങളില്‍ നഖം വെട്ടല്‍ വളരെ നല്ലതാണ്. (തുഹ്ഫ 2/476, ജമല്‍ 2/47)

രാത്രി നഖം വെട്ടല്‍ കറാഹത്തില്ല. അതു അപലക്ഷണവും അല്ല. നഖം കുഴിച്ചുമൂടലാണ് സുന്നത്ത്. (നിഹായ 2/341)

വൂളൂ ഉള്ളവന്‍ നഖം മുറിച്ചാല്‍ വുളൂ പുതുക്കല്‍ സുന്നത്തുണ്ട്. (ബുഷ്‌റല്‍ കരീം 2/10) രണ്ടു കയ്യില്‍ ഒന്നിന്റെയോ രണ്ടു കാലില്‍ ഒന്നിന്റെയോ മാത്രം നഖം നീക്കല്‍ കറാഹത്താണ്. രണ്ട് കയ്യിന്റെയും നഖം മുറിക്കുക, കാലിലെ നഖം മുറിക്കാതിരിക്കുക, അല്ലെങ്കില്‍ രണ്ടു കാലിലെയും നഖം മുറിക്കുക, കയ്യിന്റെ നഖം മുറിക്കാതിരിക്കുക എന്ന രീതി കറാഹത്തില്ല. (തുഹ്ഫ : ശര്‍വാനി 2/475)

നഖം മുറിക്കുന്ന വിധം

ചുണ്ടിന്റെ ചുകപ്പ് വെളിവാകും വിധത്തില്‍ മീശ വെട്ടല്‍ സുന്നതാണ്. മീശ പൂര്‍ണമായി വടിച്ചുകളയല്‍  കറാഹത്താണ്. (തുഹ്ഫ 2/476) തലമുടി കളയല്‍ നിരുപാധികം സുന്നത്തില്ല. എന്നാല്‍ കളയാധിരിക്കല്‍ കൊണ്ട് ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടുണ്ടാവുകയോ മുടി പരിപാലിച്ചു നിര്‍ത്താന്‍ പ്രയാസകരമാവുകയോ ചെയ്താല്‍ കളയല്‍ സുന്നത്താണ്.

അതുപോലെ ഹജ്ജ്-ഉംറ, ഇസ്‌ലാം മതം സ്വീകരിക്കുക എന്നിവയുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ടു തലമുടി കളയല്‍ സുന്നത്താണ്. പ്രസവിക്കപ്പെട്ട കുഞ്ഞിന്റെ മുടി കളയലും സുന്നത്താണ്. മുടി കളയാതിരിക്കല്‍ മോശമായി കണക്കാക്കപ്പെടുന്ന വേളയിലും കളയല്‍ സുന്നത്തുണ്ട്. (അലിയ്യുശബ്‌റാ മല്ലിസി (2/342 നോക്കുക.)

കഴിഞ്ഞ ഏതാനും ദിവസങ്ങളില്‍ അമേരിക്കന്‍ ജനത സാന്‍ഡി കൊടുങ്കാറ്റ് കൊടുങ്കാറ്റ് ഭീതിയിലായിരുന്നു. കാറ്റിനെ കുറിച്ച് അധികൃതര്‍ നല്‍കിയ മുന്നറിയിപ്പുകള്‍ ജനങ്ങളെ പരിഭ്രാന്തരും ഭയചകിതരുമാക്കി. ഭയംകൊണ്ട് ജനങ്ങള്‍ വീടുവിട്ട് പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയില്ല. തുടരെതുടരെയുള്ള വാര്‍ത്തകള്‍ക്ക് ചെവിയോര്‍ത്ത് കാറ്റ് തങ്ങളുടെ ഗരങ്ങളിലേക്കും താമസ സ്ഥലത്തേക്കും അടിച്ചു വീശുമോയെന്ന ആശങ്കയിലായിരുന്നു അവര്‍. ചിലര്‍ വീടും സാധനങ്ങളും ഇട്ടെറിഞ്ഞ് ദൂരസ്ഥലങ്ങളിലേക്ക് പാലായനം ചെയ്തു. പ്രകൃതി ദുരന്തങ്ങളുടെ ഈ പശ്ചാത്തലത്തില്‍ വിശ്വാസികള്‍ സ്വീകരിക്കേണ്ട സമീപനമാണ് ഇവിടെ കുറിക്കുന്നത്.

പ്രകൃതി ദുരന്തങ്ങള്‍
ഭൂകമ്പങ്ങളും അഗ്നി പര്‍വ്വത സ്‌ഫോടനങ്ങളും കൊടുംങ്കാറ്റും കേവലം പ്രകൃതി പ്രതിഭാസങ്ങള്‍ മാത്രമാണെന്നും അതിന് മനുഷ്യന്റെ വിശ്വാസവും മതവുമായി യാതൊരു ബന്ധമില്ലെന്ന് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്ന ചിലരുണ്ട്.  പ്രകൃതിയിലെ ശാശ്വത നിയമങ്ങളും പ്രതിഭാസങ്ങളും പോലുള്ള ഒന്നായാണ് അവര്‍ ഇത്തരം ദുരന്തങ്ങളെയും മനസ്സിലാക്കുന്നത്. ഇത്തരം അസാധാരണ സംഭവങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്ന് തങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് പ്രത്യേക ഗുണപാഠങ്ങള്‍ ഒന്നുമില്ലെന്ന് അവര്‍ കരുതുന്നു.
ദൈവമാണ് പ്രപഞ്ചം സൃഷ്ടിച്ചത്, അതേസമയം പ്രപഞ്ചത്തില്‍ നടമാടുന്ന ഇത്തരം പ്രകൃതി ക്ഷോഭങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ദൈവം ഉത്തരവാദിയല്ല എന്ന് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്ന ഒരു വിഭാഗവുമുണ്ട്. അവരുടെ വീക്ഷണത്തില്‍, ദൈവം പ്രപഞ്ചം സൃഷ്ടിച്ച് അതിനെ അതിന്റെ പാട്ടിന് വിട്ടിരിക്കുകയാണ്. ഇവിടെ സംഭവിക്കുന്ന പ്രതിഭാസങ്ങള്‍ പ്രകൃതിയുടെ നിയന്ത്രണത്തിലുള്ളതോ മനുഷ്യരുടെ കൈകടത്തുലുകള്‍ കൊണ്ടോ സംഭവിക്കുന്നതാണ് എന്നും അവര്‍ ധാരണ വെച്ച് പുലര്‍ത്തുന്നു. ഉദാഹരണത്തിന് ചൈനയോ ജപ്പാനോ സൃഷ്ടിച്ച ഉപകരണങ്ങള്‍ ഇപ്പോള്‍ ഉപയോഗിച്ചു കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നത് നാമാണ്. അത് നാം നന്നായോ മോശമായോ ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നതില്‍ നിര്‍മ്മിച്ച രാജ്യങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് യാതൊരു പങ്കുമില്ല.
എന്നാല്‍ ഇത്തരം ധാരണകള്‍ ഇസ് ലാമിന്റെ അടിസ്ഥാന വിശ്വാസങ്ങള്‍ക്കെതിരാണ്. പ്രപഞ്ചത്തിലെ മുഴുവന്‍ കാര്യങ്ങളും അല്ലാഹുവിന്റെ ശക്തിയിലും നിയന്ത്രണത്തിലുമാണ്. അല്ലാഹു മുഴുവന്‍ കാര്യങ്ങളും അറിയുന്നുണ്ട്. അവന്റെ ഇച്ഛയോടെയേ എന്തും ഈ പ്രപഞ്ചത്തില്‍ നടക്കുന്നുള്ളൂ: 'അവന്റെ പക്കലാകുന്നു അദൃശ്യ കാര്യത്തിന്റെ ഖജനാവുകള്‍. അവനല്ലാതെ അവ അറിയുകയില്ല. കരയിലും കടലിലുമുള്ളത് അവന്‍ അറിയുന്നു. അവനറിയാതെ ഒരു ഇലപോലും വീഴുന്നില്ല. ഭൂമിയിലെ ഇരുട്ടകള്‍ക്കുള്ളിലിരിക്കുന്ന ഒരു ധാന്യ മണിയാകട്ടെ, പച്ചയോ ഉണങ്ങിയതോ ആയ ഏതൊരു വസ്തുവാകട്ടെ. വ്യക്തമായ ഒരു രേഖയില്‍ എഴുതപ്പെട്ടതായിട്ടല്ലാതെ ഉണ്ടാവില്ല' (അല്‍അന്‍ആം 59)
പ്രപഞ്ചം അതിന്റെ ഇഷ്ടത്തിന് സ്വയം ചലിക്കുകയില്ല. അല്ലാഹുവാണ് അതിനെ ചലിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്. അവന്റെ ഇച്ഛക്കും വിധിക്കനുസരിച്ചുമാണ് പ്രപഞ്ച പ്രതിഭാസങ്ങള്‍ ഉണ്ടാകുന്നത്: 'തീര്‍ച്ചയായും ഏതൊരു വസ്തുവിനെയും നാം സൃഷ്ടിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളത് ഒരു വ്യവസ്ഥ പ്രകാരമാകുന്നു' (അല്‍ഖമര്‍ 49).
'ഓരോ വസ്തുവിനെയും അവന്‍ സൃഷ്ടിക്കുകയും അതിനെ അവന്‍ ശരിയാവണ്ണം വ്യവസ്ഥപ്പെടുത്തുകയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു' (അല്‍ഫുര്‍ഖാന്‍ 2)
ഉപരിലോകത്തും ഭൂമിയിലും നടന്നുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്ന മുഴുവന്‍ കാര്യങ്ങളും അല്ലാഹുവിന്റെ വിധിക്കനുസൃതമായാണ് ചലിച്ചു കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നത്. നക്ഷത്രം പ്രകാശിക്കുന്നതും, ഗോളങ്ങളുടെ ചലനവും പ്രപഞ്ചത്തിലെ ആറ്റങ്ങളുടെ വളര്‍ച്ചയും എല്ലാം അല്ലാഹുവിന്റെ ഇച്ഛയും വിധിക്കനുസരിച്ചുമാണ് ഉണ്ടായിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നത്.

പ്രകൃതിക്ഷോഭങ്ങള്‍ പറയുന്നത്
അത്യാഹിതങ്ങളും പ്രകൃതി ക്ഷോഭങ്ങളും അല്ലാഹുവിന്റെ നിശ്ചിതമായ തീരുമാനത്തിന്റെയും വിധിയുടെയും അടിസ്ഥാനത്തില്‍ തന്നെയാണ്. 'തീര്‍ച്ചയായും ഏതൊരു വസ്തുവിനെയും നാം സൃഷ്ടിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളത് ഒരു വ്യവസ്ഥ പ്രകാരമാകുന്നു' (അല്‍ഖമര്‍ 49). ഈ പ്രപഞ്ചത്തെ ചലിപ്പിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്ന ദൈവിക വ്യവസ്ഥയുടെ ഭാഗം തന്നെയാണിത്.
വിശ്വാസികളെ സംബന്ധിച്ചിടത്തോളം അവന്‍ അല്ലാഹുവിനെ ഓര്‍ക്കുകയും ഇത്തരം പ്രകൃതി പ്രതിഭാസങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്ന് പാഠങ്ങള്‍ ഉള്‍ക്കൊള്ളുകയും വേണം. ഒരു വിശ്വാസി ഓരോ സംഭവങ്ങളെയും അത്യാഹിതങ്ങളെയും തന്റെ രക്ഷിതാവിലേക്ക് കൂടുതല്‍ അടുക്കാനുള്ള മാര്‍ഗ്ഗമായി മനസ്സിലാക്കണം. സാന്‍ഡി കൊടുംങ്കാറ്റില്‍ നിന്നും വിശ്വാസികള്‍ക്ക് ചിലത് പഠിക്കാനുണ്ട്.
അമേരിക്കന്‍ തീരങ്ങളില്‍ അതിശക്തമായി ആഞ്ഞടിച്ച ഈ കാറ്റ് അല്ലാഹുവിന്റെ അപാരമായ ശക്തിയെയും മനുഷ്യന്റെ ദൗര്‍ബല്യത്തെയും വ്യക്തമാക്കിത്തരുന്നുണ്ട്. അല്ലാഹു എന്തെങ്കിലും ഉണ്ടാകണമെന്ന് ഇച്ഛിക്കുകയാണെങ്കില്‍ 'അതുണ്ടാകട്ടെ' എന്ന് വിചാരിച്ചാല്‍ മതി. അതുണ്ടാകും. അല്ലാഹു ഇച്ഛിച്ചാല്‍ ഭൂമി കുലുങ്ങും, കാറ്റടിച്ചു വീശും, നദികളും പുഴകളും കരകവിഞ്ഞൊഴുകും. അവന്‍ ഒന്നിനെ തകര്‍ക്കാന്‍ ഉദ്ദേശിച്ചാല്‍ അതിനെ തടയാന്‍ ആര്‍ക്കുമാവില്ല.
മനുഷ്യന്‍ അവന്റെ ബുദ്ധിയിലും കഴിവിലും പലപ്പോഴും വല്ലാതെ അഹങ്കരിക്കാറുണ്ട്. തന്റെ പരിമിതികളും ദൗര്‍ബല്യങ്ങളും അവന്‍ മറക്കുന്നു. സത്യത്തില്‍ ഭൂമിയില്‍ പലതും ചെയ്യാന്‍ അവനായിട്ടുണ്ട്. ചന്ദ്രനില്‍ ഇറങ്ങിയ അവന്‍ മറ്റു ഗ്രഹങ്ങളിലേക്ക് പറക്കാനും ശ്രമിച്ചു കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുകയാണ്. അമ്പരിപ്പിക്കുന്ന പല കണ്ടു പിടുത്തങ്ങളും മനുഷ്യന്‍ നടത്തുന്നു. എന്നാല്‍ ശക്തമായ പ്രകൃതി ക്ഷോഭങ്ങളുടെ മുമ്പില്‍ അവന്‍ പകച്ചു നില്‍ക്കുന്നു. കൊടുംങ്കാറ്റ് ഏത് ദിശയില്‍ നിന്നാണ് വരുന്നതെന്ന് നേരത്തെ അറിഞ്ഞിട്ട് കൂടി അതിനെ തിരിച്ചു വിടാനോ പ്രതിരോധിക്കാനോ അവന് കഴിയുന്നില്ല. വേദഗ്രന്ഥം വെളിപ്പെടുത്തി: 'അവന്റെ അറിവില്‍ നിന്ന് അല്‍പ്പമല്ലാതെ നിങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് നല്‍കപ്പെട്ടില്ല' (ഇസ് റാഅ് 85).
പാശ്ചാത്യ ചിന്തകരും ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞരും മതേതരവാദികളുമൊക്കെ വീമ്പിളക്കിയത്, ശാസ്ത്രത്തിന്റെയും സാങ്കേതിക വിദ്യകളുടെയും സഹായത്തോടെ പ്രപഞ്ചത്തെയും പ്രകൃതിയയെയും നമുക്ക് കീഴടക്കാന്‍ കഴിയുമെന്നായിരുന്നു. എന്നാല്‍ പ്രകൃതിക്ഷോഭങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് മുന്നില്‍ പകച്ചു നില്‍ക്കുന്ന മനുഷ്യനെയാണ് നാം കാണുന്നത്. പ്രപഞ്ചത്തിലെ മുഴുവന്‍ വസ്തുക്കളെയും മനുഷ്യന് ദൈവം കീഴ്‌പ്പെടുത്തി തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു. അവന്റെ നിലനില്‍പ്പിനും പുരോഗതിക്കും വേണ്ടിയാണ് പ്രകൃതി വിഭവങ്ങള്‍. എന്നാല്‍ അതിനെ ദുരപയോഗം ചെയ്യാനോ ചൂഷണം ചെയ്യാനോ അവനനുവാദമില്ല.
അലി (റ) ഒരിക്കല്‍ പറഞ്ഞല്ലോ: 'ആദം സന്തതികള്‍ വളരെ നിസ്സഹായരാണ്. ഒരു ചെറിയ മൂട്ടക്ക് പോലും അവനെ വേദനിപ്പിക്കാം. ശ്വാസം കിട്ടാതെ വന്നാല്‍ അവന്‍ മരണപ്പെടും, വിയര്‍ത്താല്‍ ശരീരത്തില്‍ നിന്ന് ദുര്‍ഗന്ധം വമിക്കും'.
ഒരു ചെറിയ മൂട്ടക്ക് പോലും നമ്മുടെ ഉറക്കം കെടുത്താന്‍ കഴിയും. നഗ്ന നേത്രങ്ങള്‍ കൊണ്ട് കാണാന്‍ കഴിയാത്ത വൈറസുകള്‍ നമ്മുടെ ശരീരത്തെ കാര്‍ന്നു തിന്നുകയും ജീവിതത്തെ അപായപ്പെടുത്തുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു. മനുഷ്യന്റെ ദൗര്‍ബല്യത്തെയാണ് ഇതെല്ലാം വെളിപ്പെടുത്തുന്നത്. തന്റെ കഴിവുകേടിനെ കുറിച്ചും സ്രഷ്ടാവിന്റെ അജയ്യതയെ കുറിച്ചും ചിന്തിക്കാനും പ്രകൃതി ക്ഷോഭങ്ങള്‍ മനുഷ്യനെ പ്രേരിപ്പിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്.

ജീവിതം അമൂല്യം
പ്രകൃതി ദുരന്തങ്ങള്‍ ഇഹലോകത്തിന്റെ നശ്വരതയെ നമുക്ക് ബോധ്യപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു. പരസ്പരം പോരടിക്കാനും അഹങ്കരിക്കാനും മേനി നടിക്കാനും പോന്ന ഒരു സുദീര്‍ഘ ജീവിതം ഇവിടെയില്ല. തന്റെ വീട്ടില്‍ സുരക്ഷിതനാണെന്നു കരുതുന്ന ഏതൊരു മനുഷ്യനും എപ്പോള്‍ വേണമെങ്കിലും പ്രകൃതിയുടെ ഒരു ക്ഷോഭത്തില്‍ ഇല്ലാതായേക്കാം.
ഇതാണ് ഇഹലോകത്തിന്റെ ഗതി. മരണം തങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്ന് വളരെ അകലെയാണെന്ന് കരുതരുത്. മനുഷ്യനോടു വളരെ അടുത്താണത്, അവരുടെ ചെരുപ്പിനേക്കാള്‍ അടുത്ത്. അല്ലാഹു പറയുന്നു: 'അല്ലാഹുവാണ് ആകാശത്തിലെയും ഭൂമിയിലെയും അദൃശ്യജ്ഞാനമുള്ളത്. അന്ത്യ സമയത്തിന്റെ കാ്യം കണ്ണ് ഇമ വെട്ടുമ്പോലെ മാത്രമാകുന്നു. അഥവാ തീര്‍ച്ചയായും അല്ലാഹു ഏത് കാര്യത്തിനും കഴിവുള്ളവനാകുന്നു.' (അന്നഹ് ല്‍ 77)

ഒരു അവസരം കൂടി
ഈ പ്രകൃതി ദുരന്തങ്ങള്‍ അല്ലാഹുവിലേക്ക് തിരിയാനും അവനെ കുറിച്ച് ഓര്‍ക്കാനും ഒരവസരം കൂടി നമുക്ക് നല്‍കിയിരിക്കുകയാണ്. സ്രഷ്ടാവ് പറയുന്നു. 'മനുഷ്യരുടെ കൈകള്‍ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചത് കാരണം കടലിലും കരയിലും കുഴപ്പം വെളിപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. അവര്‍ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചതില്‍ ചിലതിന്റെ ഫലം അവര്‍ക്ക് ആസ്വദിപ്പിക്കുവാന്‍ വേണ്ടിയത്രെ അത്. അവര്‍ ഒരു വേള മടങ്ങിയേക്കാം' (അര്‍റൂം 41 ).
അതുകൊണ്ട് പ്രകൃതിക്ഷോഭങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്ന് പാഠമുള്‍ക്കൊള്ളുകയും ജീവിതത്തെ ദൈവികമാര്‍ഗ്ഗത്തില്‍ ക്രമപ്പെടുത്തുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നവര്‍ക്ക് ഇത്തരം ദുരന്തങ്ങള്‍ ദൈവത്തിലേക്ക് തിരിയാനുള്ള അവസരമാണ്. വിശ്വാസികള്‍ ദുരന്തങ്ങളെ അങ്ങനെയാണ് മനസ്സിലാക്കേണ്ടത്.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Supreme Court is yet to decide on 4.5 percent sub quota for Minorities under the 27 percent OBC quota in the central educational institutions and jobs. The minorities, chiefly Muslims in Kerala were fortunate enough to overcome a major hurdle in their way to obtain the sub quota reservations as the Kerala Revenue Department finally decided to issue separate minority certificates according to a format suggested by the Kerala Minority Welfare Department [MWD].

The minority students from Kerala appearing for IIT, IIM exams last April had encountered difficulties in applying for this reservation benefits because the state only had a creamy layer, nativity or community certificate to be sent in along with their applications. None among these were quite adequate an evidence before the central govt institutions to prove that they belonged to a minority community of the state because, according to the 1992 National Commission for Minorities act, section 2C - the notified minority communities of a particular state like the Christians, Muslims, Sikhs, Buddhists and Parsees should submit a minority certificate issued by the state govt in specific to obtain special reservation benefits in the central govt jobs and institutions.

Though the Minority Welfare Department of Kerala under its director Dr P Nazeer was pressing on the necessity of formatting such a certificate to help out the minority job aspirants and students, it often went off as an unheard call. He contacted all 14 District collectors of the state with this demand by sending in them copies of the 1992 Minority Act, but they replied saying that it is just an Act and it requires a further notification to process. He immediately took care to send in the 1993 notification of this act to all these District Collectors and Tahsildars.

Dr P Nazeer prepared the format for the certificate in his own laptop and luckily the Revenue Department of the state with the consent of the Revenue Secretary has sent in the orders to the District Collectors, Land Revenue Departments, and Tahsildars, along with an approval from State Minority Secretary to issue minority certificates to those belonging to the minority communities of the state. The order has been passed and the certificate format too has been finalised according to the suggestions of the MWD.

This has been a major step towards the emancipation of these marginalised sections of the state because until now though the Centre was seen announcing reservations for the minorities there was no specific system to make it available to the minority communities of the state, because Kerala is yet to have a minority act of its own and the state was not issuing any certificate in specific to prove that these sections belonged to a minority community.

Al-Sudais: Uphold Harams’ sanctity

Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, head of the Presidency for Two Holy Mosques, has called on all pilgrims and worshippers to uphold the sanctity of the two holy mosques. He reminded women worshippers at the mosque that it is better for them to stay in their homes.
“We all must respect the sanctity of the two holy mosques, and respect each other and cooperate with one another,” Al-Sudais said while giving a lecture at the mosque on Wednesday. He said all believers must keep away from activities that violate the sanctity of the two holy mosques such as taking photos and chatting on mobile phones and women mingling with men.
“Some women come to the Haram neglecting the teachings of the Prophet (peace be upon him), applying perfumes, showing their beauty and without wearing Islamic dress,” said Al-Sudais, who is also an imam of the Grand Mosque.
He quoted a Hadith of the Prophet saying, “You should not prevent women from entering the houses of God (mosques), but homes are better for them,” indicating the imam preferred women to stay at home without jostling with men at the Haram during this peak season.
Sheikh Al-Sudais does not favor people doing itikaf (retreat in a mosque for worship and meditation), sleeping in the mosque’s ground floor, although his predecessor had allowed it. “We have to respect the Grand Mosque. We should know that Haram is not a hotel,” said Al-Sudais, who has been imam of the Grand Mosque for three decades.
